DaySpring 5K Award Criteria

APPLICATIONS PROCESS IS CLOSED FOR 2011.

2011 SCHOOL CHOICE IS CHAPEL HILL ELEMENTARY. DAYSPRING FUNDS WILL BE USED FOR TRACK PROJECT.

Dear School,

The application deadline is April 29, 2011.

The Dayspring 5K Leadership Team will once again hold its Dayspring 5K Road Race and 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Central Baptist Church. This is the 9th year for the event, which was organized to provide support to schools in our community. The race will benefit the selected Douglas County school(s) monetarily and will benefit Central by letting people know who we are. Central Baptist Church is excited about the upcoming road race that will be ran over local neighborhood streets around Central Baptist Church and through wooded off road trails. We know that every school in Douglas County has projects that could use financial support and this year are looking forward to partnering with another Douglas County school to raise money for one of their projects.

Any Douglas County School, department, club or group may submit an application to be the the 2011 race proceeds recipient by telling us how you would use the money. Last year Burnett Elementary School was awarded $3,000 to make improvements to their playground. In 2009 the Mason Creek Schools were awarded $3,300 to help families affected by the flood. In 2008, North Douglas Elementary school was awarded $3,000 which they used to make improvements to their playground. In 2007, New Manchester Elementary was awarded $4,900 to help with the beautification of the school grounds. In 2006, $3,500 was awarded to Brighten Academy to help start their new library. In 2005, $4,800 was awarded to Bill Arp Elementary to help with their playground. In 2004, Mt. Carmel Elementary was awarded $3,800 and in 2003 Chapel Hill High School Panther Club was awarded $3,500 for their Stadium Enlargement Fund. This year we hope to award even more money and want to give your school the opportunity to apply for and possibly receive the event proceeds.

Applications may be faxed to 770-949-9430 or mailed to Dayspring 5K, c/o Central Baptist Church, 5811 Central Church Road. Douglasville, GA 30135.

Dayspring 5K Selecting A Beneficiary Criteria

The purpose of the Dayspring 5K is to provide community support and to visibly promote Central Baptist Church as we represent our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Therefore, Central Baptist Church will host the Dayspring 5K Run and select a school within the county to receive the benefit from the race.

  1. School must be located in Douglas County.
  2. Must be a one-time project or renovation.
  3. Cannot to be used for scholarship or salary for staff.
  4. The project must be something that will benefit or improve the school.
  5. The committee is to select one school in Douglas County that will benefit significantly from the proceeds of the Dayspring 5K.  The school selected will be asked to supply volunteers to work the race and to help seek sponsorship.  With this in mind, it may hurt to choose more than one school each year.
  6. A school or group within the school may not be awarded the benefits for a period of two years after receiving the award.  Simply put, a school may not receive the proceeds from the Dayspring 5K for the next two consecutive years after winning.
  7. The decision made by the Dayspring 5K planning committee is final.
